secondary weapon

Recommended Posts

yeah, i have about 3 years of experiance with katana practice, but your somewhat right, now, if someone were to use centrifugal force with the katana, same as musashi, it wouldnt be that big of a problem, the buckler suggestion was more like a blocking rather then parrying also, for fighting multiple opponents or in a battlefield situation, cut onedown and you wont have enough time to swing it arround and cut the one behind you, that means you can block with the buckler and swing the sword towards the back cutting for the feet or thighs, maybe even the waist

How many blosom's are on that tree?

It is impossible to count,

The number's continuoulsy change.

I know a katana is better used in 2 hands but I just like the idea of using 2 weapons at once and since I already use a katana, I got to thinking what is useful weapon to have as a sidearm which can be employed in the left hand with the katana in need be.

In the left hand I would take a blade over a shield because the presence of the blade creates an area of threat to the enemy which he cannot enter without being in danger. Also the blade can be used to parry and thus can defend as well as the shield. And no one can grab your blade but they can grab your shield. Plus you could just wear armour anyway.

The jutte sound to me like a good option but it is a shame that it creates less of a threat then a blade. Oh well.

hmmm...If I had to have a Katana in one hand I would probably leave it at that. If I could change the sword and add a secondary weapon I would use a Jian in my right and a sai in the left.

O Sensei said that everyone has a defined sphere of strength and if you can get them outside that sphere then their strength will disappear. I say, EXPAND YOUR SPHERE!
