KF Dude
I've used dit da after hand conditioning or three star drill but only on the hands & arms. I've seen Sifu put other medicines on injuries of the body. What it was exactly I have no idea.
Menjo
It must be rare to find a school that teaches it........... "Time is what we want most, but what we use worst"William Penn
aefibird
Or rarer still to find a school that teaches it correctly... "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." matsu
I've seen a dvd which overviews the main Okinawan styles.. the Uechi Ryu practitioners "test" someone doing Sanchin kata. the kicks and punches were brutal... I don't know how kyokushin trains, but I've heard it is tough.
yamesu
Ive had my instructors kick my hamstrings with brutish force, and had some pretty hefty gut/sternum punches delt while practicing kihon in sanchin.Ive seen others have wooden rods and similar snapped over their chests while in sanchin. The idea is to have full body tension in sanchin-stance, to be like an immovable brick wall. Not to loose balance or focus when being hit, or hitting.I practice sanchin-kata almost every day now for two years, and for what I initially thought was a simple kata, has now turned into one of the most complex pieces of karate knowledge I have.Remember when in sanchin- Clench those butt-cheeks. Goju_boi
so when you guys do sanchin kata, you get beat up on to harden your body or what?I've never seen any one do that in my dojo while doing sanchin kata https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
elbows_and_knees
so is dit da jao neccesary for iron body training? It's technically not necessary AFAIK, but it's preferred.
yamesu
so when you guys do sanchin kata, you get beat up on to harden your body or what? Its not like a strict training reigime where we always get hit, but its also not uncommon to have an instructor surprize with a mawashi to the legs, or other attack like chudan-tsuki, to test balance, focus, strength. This is a way of keeping students fully aware of what they are doing at all times during sanchin-kata.If one gets thigh-kicked while in sanchin-stance, with a taught body, and tightened butt/leg muscles, it hurts. If one gets thigh-kicked while in sanchin-stance, with a loose sloppy stance, and the loss of core muscle taughtness, it REALLY HURTS, like potentially drops people to the ground.Osu.
