TJS
so how would a aikodoka defend themselves if they were to be on the ground? You have to remember the majority of martial arts dont have any ground fighting techniqes..especially up until a few years ago.Im sure many instructors would tell you something like "dont end up there"
tufrthanu
I think alot of styles had techniques that kept them from going down..or if they were in the process of going down a way to seperate themselves from the attacker to regain their feet. Examples would be a head throw of some sort, and a sacrifice throw like what is found in Judo. Long Live the Fighters!
Sam
yeah - grappling doesnt necessitate ground fighting work.... but it is HUGELY helpful.

tufrthanu
Idon't know what to tell you TJS their systems feature those techniques...if they were not done in MMA competitions they have no one to blame but themselves. Long Live the Fighters!

tufrthanu
Possibly sam however I know for a fact Judoka do randori. So they should be familiar with people going trying to get at their legs through one form or another. Long Live the Fighters!

We once had a "street fighter" come in and try to take down an old teacher of mine, and ended up swinging on him like a jungle gym while we tried not to laugh.
