Invincibility?

Recommended Posts

I'd have to agree. I came home from sailing camp with roughly 2 dozen bruises. If I would have been at class like normal I would have had maybe 5, if that. And note, sailing means sitting on my bum on a boat all day long. A little sunfish boat. How do I get that many bruises? I have no idea....definitely the karate gods laughing at us all....

Invincibility part II:

There's nothing quite like the "mythical" healing powers of karate. I continued to go to practice (which is bascially Mon - Fri from 6pm - ...whenever) with my torqued ankle but noticed that doing kata actually made it feel better and strengthened it over time. While still slighlty weak (doing Chinto is a little problematic), there is no pain, and I still retain full range of motion. I even played basketball again today (albeit with a slightly weaker jump).

Do you know who Chosin Chibana is...?

I know for a fact tha some people heal faster than others, I find I do with cuts and stuff and I NEVER get bruises even if iam whacked with a stick. Iam sure your martial arts training has made you used to have to keep on going while in pain or fatique.

some people do heal faster but there isnt a remarkable difference in the body's tolerance to damage. unless your talking about people with certain problems.

either way - MA strengthens a lot of the muscles around the jonits that dont usually get built up through normal use.... like your knee joint for example so its less likely that you will damage yourself.

MA builds up the weirdest muscles, ones you didn't even know you had. Apparently, they do exist, and they can whine just as loudly as the muscles you already knew you had. I would guess because your muscles get built better, maybe not big, but stronger from kata and weird positions, then they would recover faster.

Upon reflection, I noticed that things that normally put people out of commission don't bother me that much. I'm pretty sure it's because of my training, but maybe I just have a high pain threshold. Anyone else ever notice the invicibility phenomenon? Is it a result of training? Or perhaps is it because of a naturally high pain threshold? Or both?

I too am invincible, but only towards energy powered/ plasma weapons. These have yet to be developed, leaving my theory yet to be tested.

The generally accepted experiment for determining ones invincibility is standing in front of a train at high speeds :brow:
