Best Karate movie

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure but in the movie it's supposed to be wado ryu(again not sure),but like I have said before on other forums,I heard the coreographer taught them tang soo do

If your talking about the Karate Kid movie, the style is "Goju Ryu". Mr. Miyagi is supposed to be a descendent of the founder of Goju Ryu, Chojun Miyagi.

In the second movie, Miyagi's old friend/enemy, Sato, actually wears a Goju Ryu patch.

Yeah, but I think most of the MAs in the movie did TSD. The referee is even an accomplished TSD practioner (I think 8th Dan).

I recommend "Fighter in the Wind" for some good old-school karate. You'll probably have to get it on eBay, but it's worthwhile.

if u see only one modern martial arts movie let it be "unleashed" with jet li! the beginning fighting sequence truly represents how a well trained martial artist dances on the line between responsibility and psychosis!

<-----------the art of people folding!

There are some dojo's in Kyokushin that I've encountered that reminded me of the cobra kai, but I've also encountered a lot of kyokushin dojo's that are not. I know that my Sensei firmly agrees with Mr. Miyagi's view of things, as much as one can agree with a fictional character anyway.

To generalize that kyokushin karate-ka are like the cobra kai isn't exactly a fair thing to do. It varies with the student, the teacher, the dojo and the style. You get cobrai kai everywhere just like you also get "Karate Kids" everywhere and in every style.

I didn't ment to say that kyokushin instructors are pure evil , what i ment is , kyokushin is indeed force oriented , just like cobra kai's style
