Pacificshore Posted April 8, 2002 Posted April 8, 2002 It's sounds good to put someone to sleep if they fail to tap on a choke hold, but seeing how you are new to Jujitsu and are still learning, best to release the hold especially if you know the kid was turning blue/purple in the face. tigerstyle18 Posted April 9, 2002 Posted April 9, 2002 Don't forget a choke hold taken too far can result in brain damage or death When two tigers fight, one dies and the other is mortally wounded.
Pacificshore Posted April 9, 2002 Posted April 9, 2002 They say that when a partner taps out after applying a choke hold then you know you've done the technique correctly. Well that is the same as seeing your partner struggle for air, turn blue in the face, eyes roll up......those are all signs that you have executed the technique correctly. Release the hold save yourself and your partner some grief. Put those to sleep who wish to cause you real harm or harm to a loved one....... Di'DaDeeeee!!!Mind of Mencia
striking_cobra Posted April 22, 2002 Posted April 22, 2002 that and let's not forget about the ability to tap to, if the guy (or girl) is trying to hold them selves up with their arms (meaning they can't tap something) and they can't say "tap!" cause they are choking it's not cool just to let them go to sleep. i am sorry to say i nearly hurt someone bad the other day in a similar circumstance. i had him mounted...his right arm was in a kimura lock and his left arm was trapped under my body (though i didn't really notice at the time)...over his mouth...if i didn't interprate a barely audible, muffled noice as a cry for submission i can only imagine would woulda happened to his shoulder. Tapout Posted July 24, 2002 Posted July 24, 2002 Tapout or pass out, it dosen't matter to me! Tapout or pass out, it dosen't matter to me!
jiu-jitsu fighter Posted January 21, 2003 Posted January 21, 2003 move onto another submission than after class ask the instructor to check if you are doin the technique properly or make him sleep, maybe he just wants to be a tough guy, i have friends like that, i apply a perfect rear-naked choke and they almost sleep, than when i let them go, they're like , i could of got out make him sleep "When we go to the ground, you are in my world, the ground is the ocean, I am the shark, and most people don't even know how to swim"
Kirves Posted January 21, 2003 Posted January 21, 2003 Don't forget a choke hold taken too far can result in brain damage or death That's right. And "too far" isn't that far either. It's only a few seconds, definitely under one minute. You have to watch the guy carefully and release the second his lights go out!
