G95champ
I am glad they work for you. There is nothing wrong with knowing them, teaching them, working to improve them. however they got a greater down side than up IMO. If head kicks worked you would see much more of them in NHB fights. As far as on the street only a person with great flexability can get them off because like I have said many many times. 1. Your in blue jean or dress clothes. 2. Your may be in dress shoes, boots, or sandles. 3. The ground is not solid aka gravel, mudd, wet grass, etc Im sorry but IMO blocking a head kick is really very simple. 1. just move 2. Your hands are already there no differant than a punch. 3. with the exception of the front kick you can see most of them comming. I am not putting down high kicks I just disagree that they are good for SD. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
Martial_Artist
For me, head kicks work like this: For some people they are fine. For others it would be foolish to use them. I use them only when I should. And I have used them on the streets. Just like any attack, you just have to be smart with it. You wouldn't use your hand to grab the blade of a knife, right? So you wouldn't throw the head kick, if you knew it would be countered. Conversely, I only use the kick when I'm sure it will make contact. Experience has taught me that the head kick is invaluable. At the same it is this experience that has shown me prudence in using the head kick. You should be able to do them, because you never know when it would be useful to do it. Better prepared than unprepared. "I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination.Imagination is more important than knowledge.Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world."
