This may sound a little controversal...

But on top of kicking the thighs, which is probably the best choice for the school yard... Aim for the lower abdomen to groin area. It doesn't take much to take incompacitate a guy with a good groin or lower abdomen hit.

May be a little dirty, but fighting isn't clean anyways.

... which technically doesn't "break" any bones, just rips apart tendons and ligaments. Nasty.

Lots of parts to the knee:

From wikipedia

The MCL (Medial Collateral Ligament) protects the inside of the knee from being bent open by a stress applied to the outside of the knee, while conversely the LCL (Lateral Collateral Ligament) protects the outside from an inside bending force. The critically important ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) prevents the tibia from being pushed too far forward relative to the femur.

You only need to take one out, and your opponent won't be walking for the next month.

Nothing like a good teep to the gut to put a stop to schoolyard fights.

earth is the asylum of the universe where the inmates have taken over.

don't ask stupid questions and you won't get stupid answers.

A roundhouse would be just as effective as a front kick, but like said before it would require more accuracy, but with anough force both would be devestating

 I wouldn'torry about it! It takes a lot of practice to kick period and to kick something as small as a knee cap on a moving target is right up there in difficulty. It is however one of those moves that appear alot in TV's and movies and in self defense videos. If u try it on anyone who's half awake then it's usually a wasted move. :D
