scottnshelly Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 The sad part is, this is life. We all end up working at a job that we don’t like, waiting for a better one to come along. You say you’re 15, that’s about how old I was when I was your age. My first job was at 15 at a gas station/car wash. I was the guy that cleans out the bays after a big trailer comes through. I also prepped cars going through the automatic and restocked the armor-all machines. I left there to work for a lawn mowing company for the summer. My next job was at 16, Instructing Martial Arts classes for $6.50/hr.Put in your application at other places, don’t limit yourself to just waiting/bussing tables (unless that’s your passion or something). Try Wal-mart or convenience stores.
Kieran-Lilith Posted July 22, 2005 Author Posted July 22, 2005 I can tell you, I LOATHE bussing tables. I did ask if I could be allowed to host, and they agreed to that. So I'll get to host for a while, I think. Once I'm 16, I'm out of here. He who gains a victory over other men is strong; but he who gains a victory over himself is all powerful Lao-tsu
Enviroman Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 The sad part is, this is life. We all end up working at a job that we don’t like, waiting for a better one to come along. That's pretty pessimistic. I work two pretty great internships and I'll most likely enjoy my job post-graduation. I've worked some bad jobs but that doesn't mean that I'm doomed to a lifetime of them. Essentially, a large part of college is finding the skills that will allow you to pursue a job that you will enjoy.
