Kieran-Lilith
Does anyone have ideas for a 15 1/4 year old teen to do as a job? An official job, not mowing lawns or babysitting. While important, I can't earn enough money like that. And please, please, please say something besides bussing tables. I already am a busser, but I am going to quit that stupid....sorry. I don't like my job. I don't like the people at my job, the actual job isn't so bad. The people....quite a few of them are kids from my school who work to make my life a living hell. They continue this in the restraunt. battousai16
you might consider bussing at another place. or waiting tables, which i always got a kick out of. also, if there's a target near by, they pay pretty well and give good benifits to wee ones such as ourselves, and i've always found it a pretty friendly environment... and as far as massive corporations go, they're not the most evil. KLax87
you cant wait tables. almost every restaurant requires you to be 18. believe me i know. im almost 18. yes, i also used to buss tables. i agree it sucks. it seems like a decent work environment then u realize ur surrounded by idiots and a chain of incompetent managers. i quit that job to work with a catering company. the reality is the restaurants can screw u and u quit. then, another kid takes ur place gets screwed and quit. but because we're young theres always another kid who can take our place. so it doesnt matter to the managers. target publix kroger are all possibilities. try literally picking up a phone book and looking through the yellow pages. thats how i got my current job lol. many places will turn u away due to age and lack of experience. but dont be discouraged. keep a list of places u call reasons u were accepted/rejected and ur opinions. u can use it when ur older as well. its hard man but keep lookin. 2nd Dan Soo Bahk Do. niel0092
Most states require that you're 16yrs old for most jobs. Not sure what to tell you. Maybe try the local car wash/detailer. Get your lifeguard certification and work at a pool or beach. "Jita Kyoei" Mutual Benefit and Welfare

Sunrunner
If you can manage to get the training, summer lifeguarding is a good bet. Its good training and keeps you in shape for the martial arts as well Sunrunner"train until the art becomes an artless art, flowing from the unconscious." June1
I have a friend working at Baskin Robbins (ice cream shop) right now. She says it's hard on the wrist at first, though... You could also try movie theatres or other places like that. Kool Kiais: ICE! DIE! KITES! DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHH! KIAI!"Know Thyself""Circumstances make me who I am." Kieran-Lilith
Thanks everybody. I was in a really bad mood with my workplace when I started this thread. I still hate my job, but I'm going to see if they'll let me host sometimes. I think I'm old enough to do that, at least. And they make better money than the bussers, and they get tips. So I'm going to check that out. And I think Mom and I agree that the best thing for me to do is to just stay where I work now until I turn 16. It'll look good on a job application. The sad thing is, I keep going back there because I need money so I can go to the dojo. I love that more than I hate this. Or I'm thick-headed. It's got to be one of the two.
