nmbr1karatechik Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 well unlike anyone else here i believe it is possible....u people r tryin to dis on people with talent and who started young...in our dojo we have a person who is 24 and have different degrees of black belts in various styles....people start young...people have talent i teach in my dojo and i have a kid that is 2 1/2 yrs old and i can tell hes gonna grow up to be an excellent martial artist and we have a kid thats 4 1/2 and hes and orange belt and believe me we're not a skool that just gives away belts his test for his orange belt was 2 1/2 to 3 hours long so dont dis on the people that got skill
Sam Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 we're not "dis"ing on people who have skill..... im not about to get into an arguement over this.... im glad u enjoy where u train, and i hope you kid grows up to be an enthusiastic, able and rounded martial artist.
Zeke Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 My Older sisters friend Has a 5th Dan In Tae kwon do. and a couple of fourth dans in some other areas. when i see him I will ask him. He is only like 23 years young too. I have been at it for 9 years kicking and punching my way up the ranks now im a blackbelt at the age of 13. Come get me. LOL
Sam Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 5th dan in tkd at 23..... 4th dan at 18 3rd dan at 14, 2nd dan at 11, 1st dan at 9...... wow.... depends on their grading limits on time... but thats impressive
Aodhan Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 have talent i teach in my dojo and i have a kid that is 2 1/2 yrs old and i can tell hes gonna grow up to be an excellent martial artist and we have a kid thats 4 1/2 and hes and orange belt and believe me we're not a skool that just gives away belts his test for his orange belt was 2 1/2 to 3 hours long so dont dis on the people that got skillWe are not "dis" ing on people with skill. We are asking for bona fides in a situation that seems a bit odd to most of us.What we question are claims of things that seem outside of the norm to us, like a 3 hour grading for a 4 year old orange belt.Aodhan There are some people who live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality; and then there are those who turn one into the other.-Douglas Everett, American hockey player
TKDguy Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 heres something you can do radicalspiegal- Simply Spar him. then you will know. there was a kid that came in our TKD school who is still a white belt saying that he knows Ninjitsu and Muai Tai. yet when I saw him in class he looked terrible everthing thing was out of form and he Lacked tons of technique and stability in the most basic moves. he actually sparred me once and thats all it took. For some reason he did a pump fake jab at me then tried to kick me but when he pump faked the jab he didnt move I knew it instantly. He Telegraphed EVERYTHING. All you have to do is read the person.thanks, Andrew "Who Dares, Wins"
Sam Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 good point - just go and train with the person for a bit - we cna sit here commenting on the likelihood of it being true for ever, but the only way you'll know is going off and finding out.Good luck
parkerlineage Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 his test for his orange belt was 2 1/2 to 3 hours long so dont dis on the people that got skillI don't know about his skill...but you must be incredible! I can't even get 4 year olds to make it through a half-hour stripe test...let alone a 3 hour belt test...btw...what are your requirements for orange belt, that it would take 3 hours?
