I dunno about all of you, but the ninja turtles opened the doors to all those movies for me, I'm talking about the old saturday morning cartoon, not all this new stuff they have out now

None of them. I wanted to practice martial arts before I started watching martial arts films. I admired Bruce Lee's technique and speed, but didn't start practicing Tae Kwon Do because of him. Although practicing Tae Kwon Do made watching MA films interesting because I liked to compare how they did technique with how I did it. Who was better?

Queen Padme: "So this is how Democracy dies-with thunderous applause."

Annikin Skywalker: "You're either with me or against me!"

Obi-won Kenobi: "That is the Way of the Sith!"

Well, after a brief start with judo (the instructor moved after 4 months) I studied Tang Soo Do under Chuck Norris's UFAF. I was quite inspired by it all. A few years later I studied Shotokan in a small family dojo and was privledged to meet and train with Tora Tanaka, Wally Jay, & Kenneth Funaksohi. Their presence shaped my whole involvement in the martial arts. Everything since then has just been a bonus!

In my case, I'd have to say the actor that inspired me the most was Steven Seagal, I just love the techniques used in his movies, very brutal. Second would have to be Van Damme with movies like bloodsport and Lionheart. Third it would be Chuck Norris. I love his fight with that Thai leader at the end of Missing in Action 2. The list goes on including Jackie, Chan, Bruce Lee, Sonny Shiba, etc. but those three were/are my favourites.

There was no one movie or actor in particular...I always thought the martial arts were cool way before intricate fight choreography became vogue in entertainment. If I really had to single out a movie it would be...get this...Mortal Kombat. *hangs head in shame*

My early introduction to MA made me appreciate fight scenes and want to imitate them...though now that I've been around the block once I usually look at fight scenes in MA movies and laugh. Except for Jet Li fights. Those are rarely funny (unless it's one of the Fong Sai Yuk's); they're just plain brutal.

Do you know who Chosin Chibana is...?

I was five when I started and I hadn't watched any martial arts movies, but Bruce Lee is very inspirational. Tony Ja from Ong Bak is also cool, like a young Jakie Chan on speed.

i would have to say my father & Bruce Lee. my father had been studying judo long before i was born. and when he joined the navy, he went into law enforcement & security. being stationed in japan, he had the opportunity to work with local japanese police and acquired jujitsu training. but, at home, we watched alot of Bruce Lee movies over & over again and never got tired. my father introduced me to the arts. bruce lee showed me what can be done in the arts.
