Traditional-Fist Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 I treat my martial arts training like going to school when I was a kid. Sometimes I liked it, sometimes it bored me but I HAD to go and I was resigned to that fact. I am in that mindset when it comes to my Kung Fu training. Of course just like school, if you stick to your MA training/studies the benefits are immense and this fact is my major motivation. Use your time on an art that is worthwhile and not on a dozen irrelevant "ways".
Maddwraph Posted May 31, 2005 Author Posted May 31, 2005 wow, thanks for all the posts guys. especially AnonymousOne. i do like my martial arts, but for this month, i might just take a short break, think a little. im also going to college in a little over a year, so im eventually going to have to stop, and find a new one there, or if im fortunate enough to find the same one there. thanks a lot though. Im brasilian, but live in the united states. Really enjoying martial arts.
kitsune_no_tama Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 if you feel that your martial arts training is becoming tedious, learn some gymnastics. with gymnastic training under your belt (pun not intended) you can learn acrobatic martial arts and join a demo team or something. nunchaku was becoming more and more boring until i tried to spice it up a bit. i learned to juggle and now im better than ever, and its not boring in the least any more. martial arts training is not confined to the dojo. besides the XMA is bound to be more fun, challenging, and lucrative than non acrobatic MA. "Karate is an art. It must be regarded as such with its entirety of philosophical thought and development of the mind in harmony with the body. If it isn't thought of this way it is valueless. It is like eating only the bitter skin of the apple while leaving the sweet inner meat untasted. It is this crucial premise that is being overlooked today, and if the tide is not turned, I must predict the demise of the art. "-Isao Obata
