Goju_boi Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 does anyone know when the movie will come out in the U.S., but a dvd version made specifically for stores here instead of only import versions?i also heard there are different versions. also, is there any movie based on capoeira? thanks I've been wondering about ong-bak also, but as for capoeria I heard that halle berry uses it in catwoman and also in the rundown they have this one fight scene in the jungle were they uses capoiera as it's taking place is brazil https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
Maddwraph Posted May 31, 2005 Author Posted May 31, 2005 thanks. i have seen it in the rundown, but i heard catwomen was garbage, so i didint bother. they use it in ocean's twelve too. i want a movie with more than like a 5 minute fight scene though, but oh well.i might pick up ong-bak in the asian dvd, because i dont think it will come out as a U.S. release. thanks though Im brasilian, but live in the united states. Really enjoying martial arts.
kzshin Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 ONG-BAK were already out in US, the problem is, they didn't advertised it. Just like how Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was release in US at first, however, Crounching Tiger and Hidden Dragon got lucky. It's actually kinda sux, that most people didn't get to See Ong-Bak in US, I would think it's the best martial art movie in our time. And if you have chance to see "the making of Ong Bak" it's a must see. It showed that Tony Jaa is a real deal, every moved he made can actually do damges, unlike some other martail art actor, all shows, no go.
JimmyNewton Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 theres an older movie called Only the Strong that features capoeria. is ong bak out on dvd in U.S.? "The wise and successsful will always be met with violent opposition by mediocre minds."
JimmyNewton Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 i actually just went to bestbuy.com and they said a wide screen dolby sound U.S. version will be released Aug 30th "The wise and successsful will always be met with violent opposition by mediocre minds."
kenpo_fighter Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 Just saw Ong-Bak. Dialogue was like that of any typical martial arts movie. Plot was decent, although, story wise, was surprised what happened to the comic relief at the end of the story. But, the fight scenes were AWESOME! Anybody who studies the arts, no matter what style, should see this film. Fight choreography was excellent!kenpo_fighter Wisdom is knowledge rightly applied. To fight wisely is to rightly apply techniques.
lapulid2 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 check it out! ong bak on dvd august 24th http://www.ongbak.com.au/[/url] <-----------the art of people folding!
isshinryu5toforever Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Ong Bak was in theaters here in early February I believe. It saw limited release in theaters in New York City (where I saw it) and other larger cities. Yeah, this isn't a movie you see if you want to get a great plot, gripping story, and dramatic appeal. It's a movie you see if you want to see an absolutely amazing athlete and martial artist do what he does best. He who knows others is wise. He who knows himself is enlightened.- Tao Te Ching"Move as swift as a wind, stay as silent as forest, attack as fierce as fire, undefeatable defense like a mountain."- Sun Tzu, the Art of War
battousai16 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 coincidentally, tony jaa has a new movie in the works right now, and rumor has it that lateef crowder, an amazing capoeirista, will be in it. you can see some of lateef crowder's stuff at the zero gravity website. "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai
