Somebody want to tell me the deal with Tracy Kenpo? He trained with Grand Master Parker, did he not? Why did he break away? Is it supposedly better than Master Parker's?

I honestly don't know much about Tracy Kenpo...it's kind a dirty word in our studio, honestly...our instructor doesn't much talk about it...and nobody else has been around in Kenpo long enough to have seen what happened, or feel the effects of it.

Peace; (Seriously...peace...this could be a fiery topic, I know. Let's keep it nice...)

he was one of the originals in the Pasadena dojo(may be misinformed here, so apologies where needed), and after degreeing, made changes where he saw fit. I can't say it's superior or inferior to Chinese Kenpo, American Kenpo or any other descendant of chuan fa. From my knowledge, his system contains all of the priciples and movements, so what's wrong about it. I've also seen Master Tracy in action, and I can say that it's the real deal from my perspective.

I'm sure he's a competent martial artist...he got his black belt under Parker, after all...thanks for the info...keep it coming!

I'm pretty sure that there is another long set of posts on this - maybe on of the more long serving members will be able to remember which one, or just do a searhc :D

Did a brief search found A LOT of kenpo threads but nothing too specific for this topic. You might want to check some of them out though...some looked quite interesting.
