If you're looking for a premium bokken that will last you a long time,

Crane Mountain:

You may want to read about the selection of the correct wood:

I have one made of Brazilian cherry (jatoba), and it has survived many bokken to bokken contract drills, without any problems, whereas some of the fellow classmates have had to go through the miseries of their cheap red oak ones breaking.

I don't swing agressively, nor do I hit with hard force, when doing these drills; it's just that cheap red oak bokken are not meant for such contact drills, and this message was conveyed when two people in a row ended up breaking their cheap red oak bokken against mine.

Do it right the first time. Using something like jatoba, purpleheart, or hickory, is going to be your best bet.

Crane mountain is also at the top of my list.

The only two things that stand between an effective art and one that isn't are a tradition to draw knowledge from and the mind to practice it.

I was very pleased with the ones that Bugei offers.

Handles are longer and it tends to feel more like a

real sword.

My opinion.

Too early in the morning? Get up and train.

Cold and wet outside? Go train.

Tired? Weary of the whole journey and longing just for a moment to stop and rest? Train. ~ Dave Lowry
