goshinman Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 Depends on training methods. I am more convinced that the reason boxing and MT have done so well as opposed to Karate in MMA is because of training methods more than technique. It all depends on how hard the training was, but would say 10 vs 1 year is no real match. 10 years wins for sure, especially if the conditioning is at the same approximate level.Well he did specify judo and kyokushin, so the training methods and conditioning would be excellent to say the least. Tapped out, knocked out, or choked out...Take your pick.http://jujitsu4u.com/http://www.combatwrestling.com/http://gokor.com/
Sam Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 I agree - 10 years would give you so much more experience than just the 1, specially if you're talking about top notch training in both cases...Thnink if you narrowed the gap to like 1 year versus 3, it might be a little bit more even, would still give it to the guy with 3, but it wouldnt be so definite...
tsdtony Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 Its very simple when you traing for mma you train for the cage. There are many thangs a tradisonal fighter could do that that the mma would not be abel too.So i guess i would say the cage fighter in the cage would dominate. But were there are no rules the judo/kiyokishon would uterly dominate. Not too mintione there 8 years diffrence.
CapitalKarate Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 lets not get into the whole "MMA training only works in cages, you can't eye gouge and tendon rip in the cage" debate... Joshua Brehm-When you're not practicing remember this; someone, somewhere, is practicing, and when you meet them, they will beat you.
ninjanurse Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 Yes, let's not. Remember we are here to exchange knowledge and ideas, not debate which is best. "A Black Belt is only the beginning."Heidi-A student of the artsTae Kwon Do,Shotokan,Ju Jitsu,Modern Arnishttp://the100info.tumblr.com/
Sam Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 Lol, always happens doesnt it - "yeah but what about eye gouging and killing moves""well... you couldnt hit someone that accuractely in a real fight..."lol... generally the gist of how these debates go...I reckon any training for fighting for 10years at the highest level vs. 1 year in another [unless one is something silly like feather duster fighting] would just completely dominate the least experienced one.
TJS Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 But were there are no rules the judo/kiyokishon would uterly dominateWhy is that? because Judo and Kyokushin both have more rules than MMA?? There is no evidence or logic behind that. Judo has more limited rules than BJJ and Kyokushin has more limited ruled than Thai boxing.
ravenzoom Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 I really don't believe someone with one year of training in the aforementioned arts would beat a ten year veteren in Kyokushin, Judo, Jujitsu. Moreso, I believe a mix of these last three martial arts would make a very complete fighter who could be able to beat a fighter who does boxing, BJJ, Muay Thai, wrestling in a street fight, with the same amount of training. This being said, the same can be said about the other fighter, he could win also that's for sure. It would be a very interesting fight indeed. You can compare the two fighters this way: Kyokushin vs. Muay Thai (pretty even) Judo vs. Wrestling and BJJ (advantage to the second because of the mixture of the two styles, however a good throw on concrete could change that) The interesting match-up, in my opinion is JJJ vs. Boxing. Perhaps JJJ could completely outshine boxing in a street fight....perhaps
striking_cobra Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 noone could actually answer this question, i'm sure anyone can give you their opinion, but a fight is chaos, plain and true, and the moment you underestimate someone because they don't have as much training as you is the day they kick your head in. i don't care how black your belt is.just my two cents " The art of Kung Fu San Soo lies not in victory or defeat, but in the building of human character." Sam Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 yeah - but we are talking chance here - the chance is teh guy with 10years experience would win, all otehr things being equal.... i think it was really a sneaky way of asking whetehr Traditional MA was better than MMA
