hey xxstorm

thought id give you some feedback as no one else jumped in yet

Yes MA will help with muscle development.

in a sense you could consider this kinda of a given

some times it depends on the art

as some arts work more on work outs than other

most arts do pushup and situps, after doing this 3 times a week for a while, even 3 months youll see some serious improvement in how many you can do.

when you work out your body in any fashion your bound to develope some improvments.

as for your friend: everryone is different

some body types are really small but really strong

i had a friend back in school that was thin as a board and yet he could do curls all day it seemed.

I remember once we compared how many we could both do

I have always been strong, i did 60 reps and he stopped after 250 reps because he got bored

the bottom line is in my opinion the MA did not make your friend this way but it helped what he already had

Its all about the Chiflow

mix up your push up for the best results

spread your arms out to work on chest

do diamonds for triceps

you can really improve how your body looks with pushups

but like anything if you slack off for a couple weeks you will not be able to do the same amount of reps

I used to max out before class and when i get out im exhausted and i get the best gains from the workouts

Its all about the Chiflow

Would say that just mixing up your workout in general is good - but there are already a LOT of posts on this sort of topic in the Health, training & fitness area - so ill just recommend you have a look rather than re post what everyone else has said there!

when you are young a little training every day will result in almost instant reward ( you will notice a difference in about 2 weeks). Try doing circles keep circling your hands for 5-6 minuits it really builds up ur arms also try cardiovascular exercies as this reduces body fat and allows better muscle toning and strength

The key to everything is continuity achieved by discipline.

It depends on how they train. Some places traing with more resistance training then other. Some people are naturally strong, and usally short wide people tend to be stronger. Remeber that bigger people have to carry more weight around all day longer, which will develope. Most big guys you see will have big strong legs.

I wouldn't say a martial art will make you big, it will make you stronger but not drastically. What it will give you power since you'll be able to move faster and have less resistance because of your increased flexability. Plus once you've done a movement so many times your body is use to doing it so it can put a high percent of muscle fibers to work at one time.

Don't worry your 13, guys can keep growing all the way until the age of 22. With that age you'll naturally gain strength, stamina, and speed :)
