louie_shotokan Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 im doing shotokan karate well we don't do throws and grapples much so i want to balance my fighting style. Karate for strikes and judo for throws graples etc....so would it be a good idea to mix karate and judo? gyaku tsuki
Fu Man Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 In my opinion, it's a good idea. There is very little, if any, cross-over between the two martial arts.I currently study Isshin-ryu Karate and Kodokan Judo. So far, mixing the two martial arts has been a great learning experience.Ted
Sho-ju Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 I've been studying karate for 16 years now, and judo for 10, it's a great combo.
ramymensa Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 They would work OK together. We even do some Judo throws at our Shotokan classes. Try some aikido too someday .. that would make a very nice combination World Shotokan Karate
ravenzoom Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 I agree with the other post before. Go for it, it can only do you some good.
Kreisi Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 I have done shotokan and i do judo, and it works very well together What hurts you but doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.
