Board and Brick Breaking!!!

Recommended Posts

this one really gets me, I know body builders who cant brake as many or if even on brick,,, but a black belt or any martial artists can break many that just blows my mind, even wood, its not the softest thing in the world you know how do they do that how can someone like that break a break come on its CEMENT, the reason Im saying this is because I have to break a board or two to get my green belt in TKD...

any replys would be great, Andrew

Yup - focus and technique. Its really not that much special, it's more of a trick. I have taught someone with no previous martial arts training to break two cement blocks in about half an hour (to play a joke on his wife - coincidentally it caused him to want to train with me, lol). So once you "get" the trick, there's nothing to it.

it's all in the mind, once you understand the fact that the boards, cement and bricks...ARENT hard then you can start breaking down the mental barriers that hinder you and make you fear the strike. Once you KNOW that you can break it, then you CAN break it.

my latest break was 24 inches (2 feet) of bricks with my elbow....what a rush...aaaaa I love breaking!!!

That which does not destroy me will only make me stronger

Good luck for when you test! :)

Practice breaking beforehand. Tell yourself that you can do it and you will... :)

You dont have to be a black belt to break things. I was into breaking as early as 4th kyu. It just takes conditioning and mental determination
