mastertae Posted February 22, 2002 Posted February 22, 2002 in gungfu it is important to have strong forearms....gung fu's such as wing chun have many work out for the forearms...fitness as a whole is important for any martial artists...strong forearms not only make a punch stronger but also strengthens the grip of the hands... Is it not easier to strike a mountain than it is to strike a fly!
MuayTB1 Posted March 7, 2002 Posted March 7, 2002 I always hear a strong forearm will make a punch stronger but how? Better grip of course but to send a stronger punch dont' you need chest and the other muscles. "Don't think!! Feel..." -Bruce Leehttps://www.muaythaiboxing.friendpages.comThis site is dumb but I made it so it is good.
mastertae Posted March 7, 2002 Author Posted March 7, 2002 studies now show that a punch is not delivered with the chest muscles...the main muscles are the one in the legs...forearm...the tricepts....stomach....and shoulder and back muscles. it uses the same movement as when you open a refrigerator...the chest muscles will allow a person to push arder and there are many martial arts that uses puch techniques... Is it not easier to strike a mountain than it is to strike a fly!
mastertae Posted March 7, 2002 Author Posted March 7, 2002 also the fore arms protect your ones when blocking so its also a protective measure Is it not easier to strike a mountain than it is to strike a fly!
mastertae Posted March 10, 2002 Author Posted March 10, 2002 Forearm strength also makes you grab harder as well...also when you hit with your hips it causes you to use your legs and follow through with your whole body! if you only hit with your arm and shoulder you are only using the top half of your body Is it not easier to strike a mountain than it is to strike a fly!
YODA Posted March 10, 2002 Posted March 10, 2002 Power in punches that use the Wing Chun structure do rely heavily on the forearms - it's all about wrist abduction - a key factor in the "end power" of Wing Chun punches. Joecooke007 Posted March 10, 2002 Posted March 10, 2002 Forearms are very important when blocking. They can make your blocks so much more powerful! Try out iron forearm and see what I mean. Boards don't hit back. -Bruce Lee

Bon Posted March 13, 2002 Posted March 13, 2002 hehe, yeah! but, it's not always possible to move completely out of the way. I'd rather block a thigh kick with my knee then move out of the way. I saw this clip where a guy goes for a shin kick to the thigh and the guy blocks him, thus breaking his shin! Man.. it looked horrid, I just couldn't imagine the pain! It takes sacrifice to be the best. There are always two choices, two paths to take. One is easy. And its only reward is that it's easy.
