Hi Fallen,

Have you ever contacted your Grandmaster there in Erie??

You should train with him and Master Borczon

Just someone who cares ;)

Hey gold dragon, I actually do train with Sifu Borczon and Sifu Holland. Wonderful teachers and people. I unfortunately can't make most of Grandmaster Kinkead (sp?) classes, but he has sat in on a few classes. Tried to kick me in the groin once while I was doing a form to make sure my low X block was good.

I see you study kuntao and Aiki. Are you one of Grandmaster Kinkead's students?

Well, I am pretty new to the art, but I have a bit of information. Your history is pretty accurate, although not all kuntao is mixed with filipino arts. As far as fighting is concerned, we are sorta similar to Southern Shaolin and Wing Chun but with Indonesian flavor. You can search my posts to see some other stuff I've written about it.

yeah sounds interesting...To bad there are no books on Kuntao.

Fallen milkman do you use low stances like hung gar or high stance like Wing Chun? Does Kuntao use the same thories as wing chun? what are the names of the forms in your system?and how many are there?

Asian fighting arts -by Drager mentions some kuntao styles. He has investigated over 27 different kuntao styles. Dragers books are great, everyone should read the one I mentioned above.

Shaolin Kuntao is based on the five animals- tiger, crane, leopard, snake and Dragon. There are also some sub animals used, Mantis, white ape, eagle ect.. All the forms are animal based. So if you are doing a snake form it is mostly on the ground with lower stances. A leopard is a small cat, It uses it speed and agility to hunt and fight with. The leopard forms I know use both the ground and jumping techniques. Leopard forms get me out of breath. Shaolin Kuntao is considered a soft style, but trust me it can be anything but soft.
