There is a school right behind me where i just moved that teaches this style. I was curious how good a style is it. I take TSD, KM, and kickboxing, was thinking maybe replace TSD with a better style. How is Shorin Ryu?

It depends upon whether or not they're teaching authentic Shorin-ryu. Go in to the dojo and talk to the instructor about his style. Ask what style of shorin-ryu it is, and anything else you think is important. Generally though, shorin-ryu is a great art. I wish I were able to continue my study of it when I move, but alas, there is no shorin ryu dojo near my new location.

Shorin-ryu has a lot of forms yes, lot of one steps and in some schools a lot of sparring. Unfortunately though I have no idea at all what TSD is like, so unless you explain it a little, I can't really help there. Actually, if you really want to have a good comparison of TSD to Shorin-ryu PM shorinryu-sensei, he can probably help you much better than I could.

Yeah TSD has alot of forms in it as well..The Shorin Ryu instructor here says they do do full contact sparring..guess I will sit in on a class or two and see for myself what this particular school holds. Thanks for the help.. :)

It is a very practicle system none of that wide movements, its just the fastest way i can take him down. when your in it you will condition your bdy so that you kill all the nerves in certian areas in your body. But other than that, it is a very good system to learn and i strongly recommend it.

Kill all the nerves in certain areas of your body? Uhhhh..I don't think so. Conditioning, yes, but killing nerves, no.
