elbows_and_knees
I would only use a spear hand if I really wanted to KILL the individual. Remember that the spear hand is an advanced technique that requires years to actually master. If you used a proper spear hand against one of the soft vital areas like it is meant for then you would kill someone. That is what the spear hand was created for, not for hurting, but for killing. A spear hand to the arm pit would sever a main artery that flows to the heart resulting in death from internal bleeding with in ten minutes, a spearhand to the throat would easily kill someone from destruction of the throat no way to breath, spear hand to the stomach if done PROPERLY can tear right through the stomach lining and give access to the spine, a spear hand to the groin can easily kill due to the large amount of nerves and blood flow in that region. SO remember that the spear hand is not a simple technique used to hurt someone, it is a technique that takes lots of practice to master and is only meant for one purpose: TO KILLright, but I think what the poster is getting at is what happens if you are spearhanding his throat for example, and he lowers his chin - so you ram your fingers right into his chin. Even worse, what if he tries to duck and you hit his forehead? I think he is wondering how safe it is to use this technique with minimal risk to yourself. Sam
if you have correct conditioning - its shouldnt be a HUGE problem.... will probably hurt.... but then again the conditioning for fingertips can take AGEs
Menjo
Iam not comfortable enough with spearhand to use it at all in a life threatining situation. However I might use a open-handed strike to the neck of a not to out of control or beginnning of a fight. Menjo
The worst part about my hands is that my fingers and bend back as they do forward so I wouln't be able to use a spearhand very well anyway, let alone develop conditioned fingers. Sam
i think if you read up on it you may actually be able to develop the strength in your fingers to over come this problem....
Menjo
lol not likely, it was because my sister slammed the car door on my fingers. So theres a missing bone, and surgery would only cause intense joint pain for the rest of my life. Menjo
But with proper conditioning and training and time, I think someone could be able to use spearhand miss a little bit and not have to much damage done to them selfs, as oppose to them breaking a finger or two. Adonis
I like the spear hand but I form my mine by pending my the whole fingers still keeping them stright just not aligned with the hand. I get it to where my middle and ring figer at the tips are same size or appear to be. that way they both hit at the same time. I also spread the fingers slightly and slightly tense them at the back of the hand. whenI make contact I don't go staight with them but at have an arch in my wrist so they go fingers hit at the ball of the finger tips on my middle and ring finger and then i go in. if you go go straight in your more likely to jam or break the fingers. same as withthe toe kick using the big toe as the striking point you go straight in with it more likely to break your toe.
