spearhand

Recommended Posts

I most probably would never use the kata/kihon version of the spearhand due to the amount of conditioning required to make it effective.

I would however use the principles of the technique and apply it has a strike with the vertical fist.

train your fingers, train your hand, train your nails and you will be ok.

remember that spearhand can really hurt someone if you hit a soft spot....

and instead of training with a soft target, try a hard one

I would only use a spear hand if I really wanted to KILL the individual. Remember that the spear hand is an advanced technique that requires years to actually master. If you used a proper spear hand against one of the soft vital areas like it is meant for then you would kill someone. That is what the spear hand was created for, not for hurting, but for killing. A spear hand to the arm pit would sever a main artery that flows to the heart resulting in death from internal bleeding with in ten minutes, a spearhand to the throat would easily kill someone from destruction of the throat no way to breath, spear hand to the stomach if done PROPERLY can tear right through the stomach lining and give access to the spine, a spear hand to the groin can easily kill due to the large amount of nerves and blood flow in that region. SO remember that the spear hand is not a simple technique used to hurt someone, it is a technique that takes lots of practice to master and is only meant for one purpose: TO KILL

well put.

Wisdom is knowledge rightly applied. To fight wisely is to rightly apply techniques.

The downfall of some martial artists in a real street fight is thinking about what to use. To be successful don't stand there pondering what technique to use, use that which feels most natural. When in a confrontation the moves you have been 'programmed' to use since your first few belts work best because they are second nature from so much repitition, like using a fork to eat.

I think beyond all other techniques the spearhand requires the most conditioning..... and is a good technique once you can use it.... however the amount of trainig time it takes most people to build up the strength in their fingers os they dont collapse on impact is massive. But if its worht it.... i still prefer other attacking tools, but it is definitely worth having.
