hey all,

i wondered if any of you guys read martial arts illustrated in the uk,

basically in the feb 2002 issue, there was an interesting article on a special breathing excercise know as Lin Kong Jing, "powerful empty force Qigong", it inlcudes a series of standing medidtation at fixed postures for a certain amount of time, if practiced for a few years dedicately, it is said you are able to impose force onto somebody else without actually hitting them,

it is said by the author of the article, that when he practiced this excercise for a few years, when he came to draw punch and he drew it half way in to a person holding a pad, it is said that the person who was holding the pad moved quite a distance wihtout being hit by the punch,

this seems to be very mythical by the author himself urges that you must try it out for yourself before making your judgement,

it is said that this art benefited the likes of Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of aikdo and Kozo Nishino - practicer of Aikidoka,

i just wanted to know what were your views on this medidtation excercise??

Well yea, we do this in thai-boxing all of the time. We kick the thai-pads but the pad holder is never touched by the kick, only the pads are. Well... sometimes you can feel the kick right through the pad, but they only tell me that to make me feel good when I'm kicking, I bet.

If you really mean a telekinetic type of force, then it's BS and I want to see it done in a lab.

I've heard about stuff like this, I think we all have. I would think that if anything like this was possible, that someone by now would have made his billions marketing and selling this sort of training. I agree with Thai, I'll believe it if I see it.

Yeah, and those same guys can probably conjure fireballs out of their palm strike, and create an impenetrable force sheild around themselves.

Hey, that sounds like a good plot for an action cartoon. :kaioken: :kaioken:

I'm still trying to perfect the Flying Sleeve move from that movie Iron Monkey, I'm starting to think my traditional karate gi just can't swing it. Boy did I pick the wrong style.

No I have not seen that article. I have seen information about the topic in other places.

With the super fantastic claims removed Qigong has some value for those desiring a mentally clearing exercise without a lot of physical stress. It can help clear and calm the mind and improve mental focus.

Now about fireballs and forcefields. That is not something I see as a possiblity for today.

the author suggested that the beginning stages are like what sai said, they help you clear your mind and focus, he said it helped him being a naturally more healthy and stronger person
