JoeSchmo Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 Hello, I am (a newbie to MA and this forum) 15 and seriously interested in taking a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class at a local training facility run by Rodrigo Vaghi; I was wondering how much the classes should cost, and what the normal training regimen was for a BJJ class. I believe the monthly costs are as follows: once a week is $60, three times a week is $85, and everyday (assuming except for sunday) is $100; (plus $30 enrollment fee). I enjoy working out, sparring and wrestling with siblings, so i thought BJJ would be a good choice especially since the school is nearby and I am a big fan of the UFC, MMA events and MA in general. However, I am also some what apprehensive about being put in a class with a bunch of experienced BJJ masters and me left feeling dumb and embarrassed as I say "huh?..". Anyway, the website for the school is https://www.submissionjiujitsu.com. I would really appreciate anyone's comments that might shed some light on the subject and help me in a decision. Thanks in advance!-Peace
TJS Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 Prices sound reasonable, Everybody gets tapped out alo in the begining and no one is going to look down on you for it..the only way you can go is up from there.
jarrettmeyer Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 You're new. (So am I.) If the school makes you feel like an idiot because of your lack of experience, don't train there. You will be beaten, but you should be learning from this experience. That's okay, because then you'll start beating them. If you aren't learning, and they're using you like a rag doll, then get out of there. Jarrett Meyer"The only source of knowledge is experience."-- Albert Einstein
Mr Pockets Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Yea, you may not feel like an idiot, but it's okay to be humbled in that you get your * handed back to you when you first start rolling. What you should do is, once the roll is over, or even during if you want to break it up, ask the guys "hey, how'd you do that, what should I have done.." etc and learn. You get better at defending than attacking at first, and it's a funny process. The place sounds good though, so I'd say go for it.
