TSD Y049 Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 I have no idea about the Soo Bahk Do basic form 1, but I suspect that it is very similar to Tang Soo Do's! In TSD's there are 22 movements, shi sun and Baro are included, with out them there are only 20, it goes:1. turn left and low block2. step forward and middle punch3. turn all the around and low block4. step forward middle punch5. turn to face the direction you start from (Choon Bee) forward and low block6. step forward and middle punch7. step forward middle punch8. step forward middle punch, KiHap9. turn your foot in and turn all the way around so that you are facing right form where you started and low block10. step forward and middle punch11. turn all the around and low block12. step forward and middle punch13. turn to go back down the center and low block14. step forward and middle punch15. step forward middle punch16. step forward middle punch, KiHap17. turn your foot in and turn all the way around to your right and low block18. step forward and middle punch19. turn all the around and low block20. step forward and middle punchIf you look at it from above it looks like a capital I or H dependeing on how you look at it!! Jinxx0r Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 The form is called "Kicho Hyung Il Bu". TSD Y049 gave you the steps for it. It follows an "I" pattern.http://natkd.com/movies/NATKD_Forms/Kicho1.wmvwill show you the basic form. We are usually told to have our stances lower than this, but at least it will show you the moves. It says Tae Kwon Do, but this is the same as the SBD form.Enjoy. "In the beginner's mind there are many possibilites, but in the expert's there are few."
d16turbohonda Posted April 21, 2005 Author Posted April 21, 2005 TSD YO49 was right and I tested for it and passed. Im now a white belt with a stripe (9thgup).My master says in 3 1/2 months i can test for my orange belt (8th gup) if Im ready. But I know Im definatly going to the nationals to compete as a white belt in july.Right now I guess i just know basic moves (low ,high block, middle punch, front kick, side kick, round house kick.) Im satisfied for what i know so far and am really happy with the style I chose. Yeah!!! white belt w/stripe (9th gup) SBDOrange belt TKD

TSD Y049 Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 Congradulations on your success, glad I could be of some help. Sorry I did not mention the name but Jinxx0r was correct on that so I supose it dosent really matter that I didn't mention it!! Since I'm not in Soo Bahk Do, I have some questions about it. I know that Chil Sung is and form 1 are, but are all three of the basic forms the same? I also heard that you don't do the Pyong Ahn forms, is that true? I also heard that you don't do the Pyong Ahn forms, is that true? The basic forms are Kicho Hyung Il Bu, E Bu and Sam Bu. They follow the exact same "pattern" (turns and steps), but obviously different techniques at each position. Soo Bahk Do uses these three basic forms, all pyung ahn forms and all of the Chil Sung forms. You also need to know Naihanji Cho Dan and Passai. There are also Yuk Ro forms, but I don't know any of these yet (and I think they are considered more advanced Dan forms, but i'm not there and not totally sure).Hope that helps. He'll get corrections from his instructor. I agree, it's not perfect, but that wasn't my point of posting it. "In the beginner's mind there are many possibilites, but in the expert's there are few."
d16turbohonda Posted April 22, 2005 Author Posted April 22, 2005 Thanks for all of your help guys. I'm starting to get my stances a lil more correct. My punches are more solid and my front kicks are straighter/harder. One more question. What are the requierments for each belt so I can get an Idea and start practicing. I dont always Have time to make it to class so the more i know the better. Its also hard to get 1 on 1 with my instructer to teach me things i need to know to advance and better what I already know. Any websites with this information would be great.Do you guys think my test for 9th gup(white belt with blue stripe) was too easy or it that pretty satndard? Just torefresh my was to perform Basic form # 1 (Kicho Hyung Il Bu) white belt w/stripe (9th gup) SBDOrange belt TKD
