Has anyone here ever heard of Hapmudo?

This might seem like a dumb question, but is it in any way related to Hapkido? If so, what's different between the two? :-?

From what i read it doesn't look like Hapkido.

http://www.hapmudo.net/hapmudo.html

reads more like someones "new" version of Jeet Kune Do... heh. (meaning this style is taking things it likes and finds useful from a bunch of other styles)

I've never heard of it until this post. Just going by the description from that site.

hmmm...after browsing his site, I can honestly say that I wouldn't join his school. I have a hard time with anybody calling themselves a 9th degree grandmaster of a system that they created themselves...heck, anybody could do that.

When a man has lost his luck, he meets a beautiful woman.

This is sort of changing the question, but can anyone explain what Hapkido is? I sort of assumed that since they sound alike, maybe they're similar- I'm stupid, I know.

hapkido is the korean form of jujitsu basicly but not the same at all its hard to explae for me sice i only know about the art i dont take it hapkido is a combanation of tradisonal korea martal arts and japanes jujitsu if i am not mastaking. In hapkidon you lear punches kicks grapling joit locks and self defince and ki energ. It is in my opinion one of the most comprehinsev martial arts out there as incorparates every thing unlike lets say bjj whice focases manly on grapling and ground woork.

In my humble opinion there is nothing wrong with studying an obscure martial art if it is traditional and comprehensive. I am studying a similar discipline "Jui Sool Do" which is mostly Kuk Sul with influence from TKD, Hapkido, BJJ, Judo etc. (Our Sa Bu Nim is a black belt in something like six different disciplines).

On the otherhand if you were interested in a "sport" martial art I would find the best Tae Kwon Do Dojang in your area...you will spar much more than you will in a "traditional" school.
