Racism at the dojo

Recommended Posts

i would say that if its not done with intent to offend, and it doesn't offend anyone, then its not racism anyway. there is a difference between discrimination and friendly jokes.

"Gently return to the simple physical sensation of the breath. Then do it again, and again, and again. Somewhere in this process, you will come face-to-face with the sudden and shocking realization that you are completely crazy. Your mind is a shrieking, gibbering madhouse on wheels." - ven. henepola gunaratana

Yeah, I guess just a variance in interpretation, but at the end of the day, we both think the same.... any kind of discrimination that offends is simply unacceptable.

The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.

The only problem here is that it may just sound like a friendly joke, but someone takes it in a manner you did not intend.

The other thing is onlookers. You may not intend to offend the person you are speaking to/about, but people who over-hear it may get offended.

Yes, good point here too.

real racism is nasty stuff and it doesn't really involve stupid jokes which i don't find funny anyway. i don't know what its like where you guys live but the political correctness thing here is so over the top. people will get annoyed about stupid jokes instead of concentrating on solving real racism problems.
