It's the Jimi Hendrix/Kurt Cobain Syndrome to a tee.

And I would definitely say the Gracies also, not only because I have just started to dip my feet in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but also becasue they are so dominant. You CAN measure a Gracie, and they're usually at the top.

Hi all

There have been three people who have inspired me most in my karate life, and chances are that none of you have heard of them.

First - My current instructor Steve Leak. He gave me oppotunities that other people wouldn't have done, and for that I am entirely grateful

Second - A man who breathed new life into my martial arts training - a man called Albie O'Connor. He introduced me to Okinwan Kobudo, and he trusts in me to teach this martial art effective when he cannot.

Third - A man who I would rather call my friend rather than anything else - my father Jim. He has stood by me through times of hardship, and has helped me when I needed it most.

These three people have inspired me more than anyone else, and for that I hold them above anyone else.

Oh, but I also get new inspiration everytime I see a white belt issue their first kiai, or when they look at me and call me sensei.

Now I'm off to wipe away that tear in my eye.....

I know I'm corny

Tobias

I would have to say the people who have inspired me are my Sensei and Sempai, Ron Bagley and Michelle Pierce who have always encouraged me. My fellow practitioners who have always taught me something. My family for being so supportive. My idol is actually Mahatma Ghandi. He defeated 250 years of occupation with non-violence and passive resistance. That is my idol.
