Kicks Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 Under the thread "What is the most exciting Olympic Martial Art" aefibird asked me how I did in a tournament I competed in yesterday (April 9th). Instead of straying off topic there I'll answer here:My 12 year old daughter and I competed in the AAU Southern District Regional Tae Kwon Do Championships yesterday and did very well. Shannon won first in forms by 1/10th a point, beating a rival friend. She was getting set to cpmpete in Olympic sparring when the tournament director asked her if she wouldn't mind doing a point sparring match. There was only one girl in that division and Shannon was the only girl there her age, rank, and size. We don't train in point sparring but Shannon wanted to do it anyway. Shannon won the match. Then she competed in Olympic sparring where she placed second. She had to fight her rival friend who actually competes two weight divisions higher at Nationals. It was a close match. I placed first in both forms and Olympic sparring. There was only one other person in my division. He runs a dojang in this area. We were supposed to fight two rounds but he had enough and called it off just before the end of round one. I was ahead 7 - 2 at the time. What a way to spend my anniversary! when you create the world's largest trailer park, you're going to have tornadoes
