Gumbi Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 What!? Diego's a chump! He did so many things wrong, or just didn't do so many things in his fight with (whoever that black guy with the blonde hair was) it was almost embarassing.Did you see how quickly he got the underhooks, crossed his knee, and passed Florians guard? Thats not something thats easy to do.You dont have to like Diego, but the bottom line is the guy has skills, good ones too, on the ground. The other guy you're speaking of that he fought was Josh Koscheck, who's an ex NCAA Division I wrestler. Bear in mind that during the airing of this show, Sanchez and Koscheck were training partners for a long time (about a month) and then they fought. Like Florian said, its like giving your opponent your playbook, and then fighting him. His guard work against Koscheck I felt was good, minus a few misses. Then again, Diego himself was a top notch wrestler before starting submission wrestling, so Im willing to bet that he makes his best work from the top position passing the guard as opposed to being on his back utilizing the guard.
Armbar Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 so Im willing to bet that he makes his best work from the top position passing the guard as opposed to being on his back utilizing the guard.I get this feeling also. He doesn’t seem like a fighter who’s had to fight extensively from the bottom. Diego seems like a solid fighter to me, but we won't know for sure until his skills are tested against a known UFC fighter. "Achieving victory in every battle is not absolute perfection. Slydermv Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 Diego wiped the floor with the other middleweights. I would have liked to see him match up against Chris L. That woulda been a more colourful fight and I wish that's what the finals were. I don't think you can say a thing about Florian either. I gaurentee he'd wipe the floor with anyone of this board... I think it came down to nerves and experiance. The guy knows how to fight... but he looked like a deer caught in the headlights... and Diego took advantage. As for the Forrest fight... damn.... that was the greatest thing I've ever seen... and those guys are funny as heck. The interviews were great too... like when Forrest said:"I'm gonna get punched in the mouth then figure out what to do."I got the episode taped... think it's gonna be in my VCR for the rest of the week....I still think the match should been rules the other way... I think Bonner was a bit more skilled and landed more shots... but yeah... they defiantly deserved contracts...The Shamrock fight was a disappointment.... it coulda been great... Ken's tough as hell... but he slipped and that was it.... it happens....
mai tai Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 florian also has no busness in that wieght class. way to small...when they found him i think he was a 145 er.all in all its easy to be critial when your not the one in the ring. i ALLWAYS know what the other guy should have done.
