thaiboxerken Posted July 10, 2001 Posted July 10, 2001 I am training right now with the use of the Saraong and Malong, indonesian skirts. It is pretty awesome learning how to use clothing as weapons. It can be very practical also, purses can become deadly weapons using these techniques, as well as belts and skirts. What would be more embarrassing than getting beat up by a person that just got naked? Just kick 'em, they'll understand.- Me Apprentice Instructor under Guro Inosanto in Jun Fan Gung Fu and Filipinno Martial arts.Certified Instructor of Frank Cucci's Linxx system of martial arts.
Tim Greer Posted July 10, 2001 Posted July 10, 2001 But, you see, I have a problem... I don't carry a purse... and I really don't see my wife really weilding her purse too well in a deadly situation. Sounds interesting, I've used some pretty interesting and effective means with using your belt, especially against knife attacks. However, without a decent warning or thought that it might become a conflict, it's not exactly the most advantegous item to use, if at all. Still though, it is fun and interesting and training to use such things can help you use others.. but you know that. What sort of aspects and techniques are you learning? Regards,Tim Greer -> admin@chatbase.com | Phone: 530-222-7244I study any and every style and I'm always looking to spar!!Also, if I'm not around for a while, I'm just away training.
thaiboxerken Posted July 10, 2001 Author Posted July 10, 2001 Well.. a purse can be used to lock joints, break bones and choke. It's very nasty when you actually do it. Using flexible material to choke with works so much faster than trying to choke a person empty handed. Also, there are many weapon disarming techniques that I'm learning with the clothing. Sometimes the clothing is just used as a distraction to the face in order to set-up a really hard kick. iamrushman Posted July 12, 2001 Posted July 12, 2001 very interesting subect.........i have a small amount in training in such things. i find using pocket change for a distraction works quickly and is easily to retrieve in a stressful street situation. because hands in pockets is a non threating position. _________________ rushman (taekwondo moderator) 3rd dan wtf/kukkiwon florida This Message was edited by: iamrushman on Jul 12, 2001 9:11am rushman (karate forums sensei)3rd dan wtf/kukkiwon"saying nothing...sometimes says the most"--e. dickerson
thaiboxerken Posted July 12, 2001 Author Posted July 12, 2001 Of course any distraction that works is a good one. A good Kali, Silat practioner is able to use anything as a weapon, from keys to a shoe to a car antennae. Why fight hand to hand if you can find a weapon anywhere? It's silly to fight a person on equal ground, always have an advantage. egarlock Posted July 28, 2001 Posted July 28, 2001 Normal mundane things are more interesting. Hose (Garden), rope, scarf (for those of you in colder climates). Ever tried a takedown with a trackball or keyboard, how about a pair of PC speakers? Hit Harder, Run Faster
thaiboxerken Posted July 29, 2001 Author Posted July 29, 2001 Today, I trained some more with the Sarong. I learned how to tie people up, knock them out and kill with that Sarong. Learning how to use the Sarong easily modifies to scarves, purses and ties. It is amazing the amount of impact damage a Sarong can do, especially when wetted. Just kick 'em, they'll understand.- Me Apprentice Instructor under Guro Inosanto in Jun Fan Gung Fu and Filipinno Martial arts.Certified Instructor of Frank Cucci's Linxx system of martial arts.
thaiboxerken Posted August 8, 2001 Author Posted August 8, 2001 One thing that them Indonesian people to is not to fight "fair". They carry rocks and knived, and probably guns inside of their Sarong. The Sarong is very nasty when coupled with these hidden weapons. Just the rock is enough to send a person to the ground, permanently. I would hate to get hit with a rock being swung in a Sarong. Just kick 'em, they'll understand.- Me Apprentice Instructor under Guro Inosanto in Jun Fan Gung Fu and Filipinno Martial arts.Certified Instructor of Frank Cucci's Linxx system of martial arts.
SaiFightsMS Posted November 1, 2001 Posted November 1, 2001 :eek:This all sounds really interesting. Where can I get a sarong?
