June1 Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 I have a friend who does this occasionally does this. I think I did this once, but I've never really concentrated on it. I have, however, made myself think about something before falling asleep to ensure that I dreamt about it. It worked! Has anyone here seen the movie, Waking Life? There's a very interesting, philosophical, and creepy discussion about lucid dreaming. I saw this movie in philosophy class. Kool Kiais: ICE! DIE! KITES! cvkid Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 I have lucid dreams all the time. In the last one I was getting attacked by huge demon like creatures, I realized it was just a dream and turned them into "paper demon creatures" . They kept coming, so I started ripping off arms and heads. They tore just like paper would. Demons live in the shadows of this world where the uncritical mind fails to shine the light of reason. Be nice to animals.
snackinabox Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 Yay for the person who mentioned Waking Life!!Awesome movie...you gotta be either philosophical or stoned to get it though Nah it's awesome...very trippy indeed, presents some really cool ideas.
dtstiachi Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 Lucid dreaming is interesting. I have had a little bit of experience with it, and soon I hope to try it out further. "The journey of a 1,000 miles starts with but a single step."
honour is life Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 does any one no how to trigger lucidity from a normal dream? or do you have to realise that its not real? you may freely give up your life, but never lose your honour
honour is life Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 sorry about the double post but i have just thought... have any of the people who have been able to achieve a lucid dream had an OBE? (out of body experience) or been able to trigger one? you may freely give up your life, but never lose your honour
Oopgrub Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 I'm aware of the term. And I love learning about the mechanics of the mind and dreaming in particular. You can trigger a lucid dream by setting a timer or something before you go to sleep, so while you're dreaming you see a flash of light or something, and you remember what its from. Skeptic 2004 Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 Went to ld4all.com and actually did some the things they suggested for lucid dreaming. Wow! I had my first lucid dream a couple nights ago, and it was really neat. The funny thing is, I don't remember what happened prior to me becoming aware that I was dreaming, but I do remember everything that happened afterward. I was having a normal dream (which I don't remember in detail), but in the middle I realized that something wasn't quite right. Then, I became aware that I was having a dream (I even said in my dream, "I'm having a lucid dream!"). From that point forward, I was able to control time. A dude dropped a glass bottle, and it shattered. I rewound time to watch it come back together and fly back into his hand. It was pretty cool. I did all sorts of other things too, but manipulating time was just incredibly fun. At one point, I got tired so I said, "I'm going back to sleep". The world disappeared, and I don't remember anything that happened after that.I highly recommend trying out the dream techniques in ld4all.com. I'm living proof that they work! elila Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 I've never had one- but I'm able to remember a lot of my dreams which is pretty cool.If I did have one, I think I'd take more chances than I do in reality. Maybe do extreme MA stunts? I dunno...
