thanks guys, this is however becoming more of a problem and to some degree is being fostered by the parents who are really encouraging this kid to become even more involved in the club. To the degree that he was brought to class by his parents who were really enouraging of his new 'interest' in karate!!!! :-?

"Kid" ----- I'm assuming this is a teenager.

I'm a teenager and have had a huge crush on one of my teachers for, oh, a year. But I can have more than one crush at a time. I can have a boyfriend and still obsess over him every once in awhile. I'm certainly not going to get involved with a man 3 times my age, nor am I going to expect him to treat me differently- that would be weird and I'd lose respect for him.

What? What's wrong with him being interested in MA? Isn't that what you want? Maybe it has nothing to do with you. I don't see the problem here. Unless he's disrupting class or something don't mention it- it'll embarass him for no reason.

Part of the reason I get crushes on instructors is because I'm impressed with their knowledge. Even so, I still remain focused in class.

If it's an adult, and he comes on to you- tell him you're taken. He can handle it. Either way, crushes come and go.

Hm..I remember when I first started out at my dojo.I saw this beautiful girl(assistant instructors girlfriend) and thought hey..whats a pretty girl like her doing here.

After that...she doesnt seem so beautiful anymore :D

LOL! Yes, that does seem like one of the best ways to get over a crush... be man-handled by her first! :P

I don't know, depending on the personality being manhandled might just make things worse. :P

Getting a blackbelt just says you have learned the basics and are ready to actually study the form as an art.

Kids/teens always get crushes, and the majority of the time it is for someone that they cannot have - such as TV/film stars, teachers etc. It is a natural part of growing up and should not be blown out of proportion.

When I was in school I had a massive crush on one of my teachers and used to get dreadfully upset that we would never be together, however if he had ever approached me I would have run a million miles!!!

It's bad enough having a crush as it is without finding out that the object of your desires actually knows!!!

haha just take a couple minutes to sit down and just laugh at it. He's still just a kid. He'll eventually learn that he cannot have all his crushes fall for him* plus he'll be crushed when u get marrried*
