Joecooke007 Posted February 15, 2002 Posted February 15, 2002 I recently purchased a Golu Ryu Tape to practice with from panther martial arts and at the end of the tape there was a forty five minute section teaching self defense techniques for jan bo jutsu (short staff ) The staff is about 12" long and very useful. I was just wondering if anybody else here has heard of or even trained in this art. Boards don't hit back. -Bruce Lee
SBN Doug Posted February 15, 2002 Posted February 15, 2002 I don't practice that art specifically. However the "short sticks" I've referred to in other posts are the same weapon. About 12" long and the same thickness as a long staff. Kuk Sool Won - 4th danEvil triumphs when good men do nothing.
Tobias_Reece Posted February 15, 2002 Posted February 15, 2002 I think I know this weapon as the Hanbo - a short staff. SBN Doug Posted February 18, 2002 Posted February 18, 2002 I have also heard it referred to as "short staff". Kuk Sool Won - 4th danEvil triumphs when good men do nothing.

SaiFightsMS Posted February 19, 2002 Posted February 19, 2002 There is a lot of information coming out now on the collapseable short staff or tanbo. And there are a lot of different versions of the tanbo or collapseable staff coming out. It seems the tanbo is currently the "hottest new weapon" on the market.
