There are probably as many answers to that question as there are people that meditate . Following breath is a good one for general practice.

We are not so much individual beings as individual points of perception within one immense being.

  • 4 weeks later...

When I first started at my school, the class was instructed to breathe in 4 counts, out 4 counts through the nose after each class. It helped to calm my body down and I still use it to help me fall asleep at night. Concentrating on your breathing helps clear the mind. I try not to visualize anything, but someone else may have a better method. Hope this helps.

First of all, try to forget everything before you meditate. When you sit down and start to meditate, control your breathing. After that, leave your mind blank, absolutely blank.

*If you reach this stage, then you are really good*
