dtstiachi Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 Hello everyone, The headmaster at my school has a Doctorate in Martial Arts Philosphy from an accredited univeristy. Anyone here heard of such a program? "The journey of a 1,000 miles starts with but a single step."
cathal Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 I know a lot of universities where they teach such programs, but nothing local. I'd love to get into a program like that. Some universities will offer Martial Art Philosophy minors as well. .The best victory is when the opponent surrendersof its own accord before there are any actualhostilities...It is best to win without fighting.- Sun-tzu
dtstiachi Posted April 2, 2005 Author Posted April 2, 2005 When I go back to the studio I will write down the name of the University and let you know what it is. "The journey of a 1,000 miles starts with but a single step."
ncole_91 Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 Wow thats interesting, hopefully you can get the name of the university
dtstiachi Posted April 5, 2005 Author Posted April 5, 2005 I will and will have it tomorrow. "The journey of a 1,000 miles starts with but a single step."

Master Jules Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 I will not echo the sarchasm of "AnonomousOne", because everyone is entitled to their opinion and how they choose to state it, but I am very curious and will echo the question....."Who decides what is right ? " ~Master Jules......aka "The Sandman""I may be a trained killer......but Im really a nice guy"
GhostlySykanRyu Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 Maybe it is a program teaching the views of various martial philosophies in order to improve martial artists and teach others more about other cultures? To condemn the art of another is to condemn your own as well. We all have the same origin.
Red J Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 If its from a university, you probably have to study quite a few philosophies, not just one. I had to lose my mind to come to my senses.
Slydermv Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 That's prolly the case, the studying of many different MA philosophies... but usually at a doctorate level, you specialize in one thing in particular.I doubt they teach one phil. as right or wrong... school isn't like that. They teach you everything, give their opinions and let you weed out what you agree with and what you don't... especially in psyc. and philosophy...(couse alot of people with degrees in either of these spend their time asking if you'd like frys with that...)
