dtstiachi Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 My school was nice enough to give me the rest of the month (3 lessons) for free when I signed up with the school. Is this a common procedure at your schools? Do you give a trial lesson, or a trial week, or a trial month? Thanks for your imput. "The journey of a 1,000 miles starts with but a single step."
SloMo Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 For the good schools it is. My personal opinion is that not every martial art is suited for every person. So giving a few free lessons helps everybody in the long run. TKD WTF/ITF 2nd Dan"A Black Belt Is A White Belt That Never Quit"
dtstiachi Posted March 31, 2005 Author Posted March 31, 2005 slomo, you live in Jax. I was born and raised there and my family still lives there. ( I do too when not in school) Where do you train? "The journey of a 1,000 miles starts with but a single step."
aefibird Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 Both my karate and my kung fu schools give trial lessons. It helps people to have a go without forking out £££ if they don't like it. Plus, it's a bit of a marketing gimmick to get students in.My kung fu club also does special 'beginners deals' on per-month pricing and buying uniforms (if you sign up for their TKD or Kickboxing lessons, that is. There's no uniform for Wing Chun, Tai Chi or Arnis). "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." The Beautiful South - The Rose of My CologneSheffield Steelers!

Squawman Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 Actually, the rule of thumb if you are looking for a school is, if the don't offer a trial lesson then look for another place. Some schools will have you sign a contract before you even start then if you don't like it your still locked into paying. Our trial right now is a month of classes for free with the purchase of a uniform.
tkdBill Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 I insist that potential students try a few classes before signing up. I want happy students who want to be there!--
pineapple Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 I also insist that people try the class because I want only long term students not students that soon quit! What works works
Mr. Mike Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 we give 8 free lessons just for walking in the door. That way they can test drive the system so to speak. Hey, if they don't like it, they won't want to be there, and if they don't want to be there, we don't want them there. taiji fajin Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 Our school lets people try it for free. If they like it and want to stay, good, if not, no hard feelings. If they do stay, we start collecting dues about halfway through the semester, but we are pretty laid back about it. Fetch Daddy's blue fright wig! I must be handsome when I unleash my rage.
