It's machine language. Computers only work with zeroes an ones. The simplistic math is one of the reasons why they work so quickly. One means "on" and zero means "off". The grouping of ones and zeroes have meanings to the computers.

There is more to it, that's the best explanation I can give you without getting too complicated. :)
