Tattered gi

If you have a faded black gi, why not purchase some dye, such as RIT (here in the us) and redye it so it looks newer? Then you still have your favorite gi, just more presentable, as it doesn't look so old anymore with a fresh color on it.

Would you dye your dog if it was getting old and gray? Would you dye your favorite jeans if they were old and faded? Would you dye your spouse if they were old and not new looking still? :D

Like me, my old, faded (but still in decent shape) gi has "experience" and is time tested.

I'm sorry, I just can't get the picture of dyeing a dog out of my head...

I'll bet that's going to keep you up all night now thinking about it too. :D

Dying clothes is completely acceptable - after all, it's just something you wear. If your do-gi becomes neat again, why wouldn't one dye it?

It's not a spouse, it's not a dog. It's just something you wear. And yes, I would re-dye my favourite pair of jeans, as well.

:o Poor dog! :o

I've yet to find a gi that fits right, so I don't think I will ever have to fear liking any of my gis too much.

One day I'm gonna invent a range of gi that will be a perfect fit for all martial artists... then I'll make pots of £££ out of you all! :P lol, j/k... I think...

Too late, they already do exist - high quality Japanese brands offer a custom tailored uniforms as an option.
