scottnshelly Posted March 24, 2005 Posted March 24, 2005 Century sends me e-mails every once in a while. I just got this and wanted to share for those interested:XMA RETURNS TO PRIMETIME! A Discovery Channel encore presentation of Xtreme Martial Arts -- Secrets Revealed is scheduled for Thursday, March 31st, 2005. Set your video recorders now, so you don't miss a frame of the cutting edge action.I saw the first presentation. It was dorky, but i watched it. I know this will stir up some mixed feelings, but it should be interesting to watch anyway.
Muaythaiboxer Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 XMA is a drain on the martial arts its a dance nothing more. Fist visible Strike invisible
scottnshelly Posted March 25, 2005 Author Posted March 25, 2005 XMA is a drain on the martial arts its a dance nothing more.I agree, however, the show is still amusing to watch. It's not infomative or educational, just funny.
isshinryu5toforever Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 For all of how much I dislike XMA, I have to say it's like the new kung fu flick. It's gained popularity among the younger generation kind of the way the Ninja Turtles did in the 80s and early 90s and Bruce Lee films did in the 70s. They want to be able to do the stuff they see in the movies, and this offers them a way to do at least a little bit of it. He who knows others is wise. He who knows himself is enlightened.- Tao Te Ching"Move as swift as a wind, stay as silent as forest, attack as fierce as fire, undefeatable defense like a mountain."- Sun Tzu, the Art of War
cathal Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 What I'm really disappointed with is that you never do learn about the results of the biometric testing, or the rest of the research that is done. .The best victory is when the opponent surrendersof its own accord before there are any actualhostilities...It is best to win without fighting.- Sun-tzu

Master Jules Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 XMA is a drain on the martial arts its a dance nothing more. While I jump at the chance of agreeing with you MTB, as you are most definetely correct, I would like to at least point out that although it is anything BUT "traditional martial arts", it does take a high level of "gymnastic" skill, and certainly physical fitness to perform all that flashy stuff. I think its also safe to say that in a street fight, if somebody held their leg up in the air that high for that long, they most certainly would wind up getting their nuts knocked outta their ears. ~Master Jules......aka "The Sandman""I may be a trained killer......but Im really a nice guy"
Kicks Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 Are there any KF members that are XMA practitioners? Would an XMA practitioner be a member of a MA forum or Gymnastic forum? Or both? I'm not being judgmental, I truly would like to know. when you create the world's largest trailer park, you're going to have tornadoes
karatekid1975 Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 I don't do XMA, but I did learn some of the moves before I hurt my knee. I did join a XMA forum, but I haven't been there in a few months (my knee screams everytime I attempt those moves now LOL). Laurie F

To condemn the art of another is to condemn your own as well. We all have the same origin.
