Hunting

Does anyone here like hunting? If so what do you hunt? Do you hunt for sport or to get food? What's your favorite gun?

I love hunting and go after moose. I usualy use a 308 rifle, some times play around with a .22 (not that you could shoot a moose with one  )

my family hunts for deer, bear, and assorted small game. We also fish. We do it for the meat. I have to say the Reminton .280 is a good gun as is the .308, the good 'ole Winchester 30-30 is a classic, likeable gun as well.

I too am an avid hunter. I like to hunt white tail deer and my weapon of choice is a bow an arrow. That doesn't mean I'll miss gun season. During that time of season I like to use my Browning 7mm. I hunt for the meat and the rack isn't a bad trophy either.

Turkey season is just around the corner and should be a good season. I've always wanted to go coyote hunting but just haven't found the time yet.

I have occasionally gone pheasant hunting back home in ND, but not too much. One of these years I'd like to try bow hunting deer; sounds like a challenge.

I don't hunt. I think the only way I could kill anything is if it was attacking me or if I was starving to death.I have hunted before, but I felt teribble afterward. I'll take a spider out of my house and put in the yard before I kill it. I can't help to think, What if that creature is someone you used to know? I think maybe that it could be a friend or family member that has died and at that point, has came to see you and how your are doing. I always say to myself, "remember the grasshopper at your feet".

Bow hunting is very fun, and can be a challenge. It gets kind of funny though when my dad is so good at it he can go out in his work cloths, a gray uniform basically, be in the woods 10-15 minutes and have a deer. I actually arrowed a turkey, that's difficult. Sorry Davison I don't have any Buddhist leanings. My dad has a shirt that says, "There's a place for all God's creatures....Right next to potatoes and gravy" That'll kinda tell you what my family is like.

The only thing I've ever hunted is fish...um, with a pole, a line, hook and bait...?

*listens to the crickets chirping in the background*

Okay, so I've never gone hunting...I don't have anything against it, but I've just never done it.

I love to go hunting. I hunt Whitetail deer, quail, turkey, and dove.

My favorite rifle is Browning .270 A-bolt with a Nikon Monarch UCC Scope 6.5-20x44 AO Black Matte Nikoplex scope mounted on it shooting a 140 grain hand loaded Nosler Balistic tip

For winged fowl, (including turkey) I use my trusty 12 guage Stevens Savage side by side shotgun. I will also use an semiauto shotgun if I am going to hunt dove or quail.

Davison-

Okay so we aren't starving to death, but honestly in the bush (that means off the road system)the cost of living is so high that I don't know if we could get by without hunting. We literaly eat no beef, moose and salmon are norm here :).It's kinda funny cuz instead of saying "Salmon! What a treat!" once or twice a year we say "Chicken! What a treat!"

(I hope I don't sound offended, just telling you why we hunt :) )

I don't like hunting for sport (actually, I'm totally against it) but I can see why people would go hunting for food. I don't have a problem with that at all. I've actually been on a mini hunting expedition with Masai in the bush in Tanzania. That was fun, epsecially as I got to spend the day with tall, hunky men. *ahem* I think I'll stop talking about that now...

The only hunting that I've done in the UK is 'hunting' for a free parking space at the mall or 'hunting' for a manned checkout at Tesco on Saturdays. To the manager of Tesco, Wath-upon-Dearne, - get some more Saturday staff!!
