aefibird Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 Revenge of the Fish - that's a great name. it conjures up all sorts of possibilities! "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." The Beautiful South - The Rose of My CologneSheffield Steelers!
parkerlineage Posted March 24, 2005 Posted March 24, 2005 Never heard of Leveling the Clouds...what rank? American Kenpo Karate- First Degree Black Belt"He who hesitates, meditates in a horizontal position."Ed Parker
DKizzle Posted March 24, 2005 Author Posted March 24, 2005 Leveling the Clouds is a green belt technique at my school.
cathal Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 I'm very interested in knowing how that one works, too. .The best victory is when the opponent surrendersof its own accord before there are any actualhostilities...It is best to win without fighting.- Sun-tzu
Kenpo-Sloth Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 Revenge of the Fish??? I love the name!!! Cathal, all of our techniques are named like that. Levelling the Clouds, Attacking the Wall, Plucking a Bird From The Sky...I am in Parker Kenpo.Well, maybe Parker Kenpo (prior to "American" Kenpo)I think these are Chinese (Tracy) Kenpo names. It's All GOOD!!It's All Kenpo (well I'm not sure about Revenge of the Fish but it sounds totally devastating!!!) Kenpo Training may not be a Lifetime Journey, but it's Definitely the Journey of a Lifetime!!
DKizzle Posted March 25, 2005 Author Posted March 25, 2005 I believe it's actually a 4th Degree Black Belt technique, because when the instructor in that class, Mr. John (6th Degree) mentioned the technique, Mr. Nick(3rd Degree), teaching the lower belts had no idea what it was.
bald1rides Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 ...isn't that the one where you get smacked by a fresh caught salmon? "When you can balance a tack hammer on your head, then you can head off your foes with a balanced attack!"

parkerlineage Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 17 years old, thank you very much, and I've been training for 11 of those 17 years. I know wee have code words...but since when have Clouds, Fish, Walls, and Birds been included in the 'code words'?By the way, if anybody knows what those actually stand for, I'd love to hear.Peace;Parkerlineage American Kenpo Karate- First Degree Black Belt"He who hesitates, meditates in a horizontal position."Ed Parker
rhoonah Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 I studied Nick Cerio's Kenpo for many years. He and Ed Parker were friends and trained together under Master Chow (I think that was his name). In any event, we had similiar names... Buckling Brance, Defying the Storm, Menacing Twirl, Rotating Destruction, etc. I think it was easier to remember the colorful names instead of Combo1, etc.I also studied some Parker's Kenpo for a little bit and I remember a few names like Glancing Salute, etc. Sensei1st dan, tai jutsu1st dan, Kenpo
