ShotokanKid
I personally think that you can learn a kata from a video but you need an instructor to brush it up for you. cathal
I don't really use the instructional video. I prefer the student/teacher face to face approach. .The best victory is when the opponent surrendersof its own accord before there are any actualhostilities...It is best to win without fighting.- Sun-tzu
karatekid101
If I were you, I would get help by your Sensei/Sempei. KarateKid101"The answers to life aren't in the back of the book"- Charlie Brown

nago
I believe they can be a good reference to suppliment your training, but nothing replaces hands on with an instructor and interaction with others in the dojo.

karatekid101
Like I said, use your Sensei/Sempei for help, don't just stand there watching a video!! KarateKid101"The answers to life aren't in the back of the book"- Charlie Brown
Venrix
Kata videos, in particular, can be very helpful. Typically, you would use the video as a 'memory aid'. I am not suggesting that you can 'learn' Kata from a video. However, it's clear that you could practise your kata at home if you had a video to help you 'remember the sequence'. The general advice of this thread is good though: "Work with your instructor and allow videos to supplement your training."-V- More than 200 pictures of Kyokushin technique.
