KF Dude Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 Brass rings move along your forearm this makes training more challenging. We use them for drills & forms. The added resistance makes your arms feel light when you take them off. Start with only 1 or 2 rings at first. It's not body building so don't rush to add more weight. Swinging your ams with the rings is hard on the shoulders give them time to adjust. I use football hand pads as a cushion for the back of hands. Hope this helps.
David Posted March 20, 2005 Posted March 20, 2005 Hung Gar is famous for them, traditionally the rings are iron. They provide heavy conditioning. Rgds, David ** Censor-O-Meter: 9 **

3hitKO Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 how are these different than weights you wear on your arms? *Gi-Yu-Jin-Rei-Makoto-Meiyo-Chugi*"Life in every breath...""That is...Bushido.""Hai."
mantisboxer Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 Never use less than 2 rings per arm. The reason being is that iron ring training is used to toughen the skin. you use two or more that way the rings move and can pinch and toughen the skin up it allso developes power.
3hitKO Posted March 24, 2005 Posted March 24, 2005 sounds painful *Gi-Yu-Jin-Rei-Makoto-Meiyo-Chugi*"Life in every breath...""That is...Bushido.""Hai."
InsaneTigerCrane Posted March 24, 2005 Posted March 24, 2005 rings are very beneficial when you use them during drills and forms. i trained with them for a long while. it's hell on your wrists, but eventualy your speed will increase greatly and your arms will be tough which is real good for blocking techniques.also after youv'e been using them for a while, all the rubbing it does on your arms will also cause the hair on your arms to rub off a bit.
