Hey. Me and my dad wrestle around a lot, and he, being about 220 and me about 170, always gets me in this one hold.

I'm on my side (read: on my right shoulder), and he's got a side mount position with his chest on my left arm and my left arm in a figure four hold behind my back. What's the easiest way to reverse this?

If I'm not describing it clearly, tell me with some advice on how to describe better, and I will. :)

Thankya

If he has control of your hips there's very little you can do with playing dirty. Try to use your hips to wiggle on to your back and get him in your guard.

Maybe you can try to make sure that you don't set yourself up by putting yourself in that position. Try to make him think your going to give it up and when he goes for his move, counter it with something else.Set him up.

how does he get this hold in the first place
Usually by grabbing my arm while I'm not paying attention and tackling me onto my side. =P That's why it's hard not to get in that position in the first place. :)

sorry it took so long to get back to you.

if you hand is already behind your back you better start taping.

when you first feel the attach ( or when he is scrableing to get you down you can sometimes work it) make sure you anckor you hand in front of you.( grab your belt or clothes) then work into gaurd and go from there

Instead of big movements you can try multiple little hip pops, firing them off like a machine gun, to create enough space to turn into him and get guard, or turn on knees.
