Treebranch Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 What are you fighting for? Why are you starting a fight? My advice is Don't Fight! "It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die, than to find those who are willing to endure pain with patience.""Lock em out or Knock em out"
GhostlySykanRyu Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 Throw down? Sparring or "street" fight? If it's the latter, the best advice you can be given is to simply avoid it. MAs are for defending your well being, not your ego. That being said, if you're referring to a sparring session or MA competition, just relax...theres not much else that will help you within a day's time. But since you mentioned "seriously injured", I guess we're talking about a street fight. Do yourself a favor, don't stoop that low... To condemn the art of another is to condemn your own as well. We all have the same origin.
Treebranch Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 I didn't get that it was competition, but yeah relax. "It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die, than to find those who are willing to endure pain with patience.""Lock em out or Knock em out"
GhostlySykanRyu Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 I'm pretty sure that it isn't competition, I just didn't want to offend the original poster of the topic in outright assuming that it's a brawl To condemn the art of another is to condemn your own as well. We all have the same origin.
xxducati998xx Posted March 17, 2005 Author Posted March 17, 2005 yea thanks for ur replies guys, its definately not a competition lol...i normally avoid "street" confrontations but this one is necessary i must do it i really cant explain its quite a long matter....any suggestions still got that problem...help appreciated
Gumbi Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 I think the most important thing is to breathe- so many people forget to do this when they're nervous and in a fight. As far as getting all psyched up, pretty much it happens to everyone when they fight or compete- everyone gets the jitters. Hopefully, you'll learn to have confidence in your abilities, and with that you can relax a lot more.

Synaesthesia Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 Remember this: When you feel that fear in your stomach, and the heart beats quickly, it means your limbs will be weak, and you'll get easily knocked out. I highly recommend you are really tense going into the fight, when you face your opponent, go into your stance, keep every muscle in your body rigid and squeal like a dolphin. Remember to lock your legs out so that your opponent can use his superior strength and skill to break your legs. You will never run properly again. All in all, don't believe in yourself, and make sure to give us a blow by blow account of your ignominious defeat.
Synaesthesia Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 But seriously, in the interests of your safety, be very very very very sure that his friends won't jump in. I have a buddy who was knocked out with a baseball bat and stabbed four times while he was unconscious. It was supposed to be just a one on one, but turned into a one on thirty. But like I said: don't be confident, don't be loose and nimble and don't EVER train yourself to be ready to hit back when you get hit. Rather, when you get hurt, cry and fall down sobbing and begging for mercy.
