Chado Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 I dont know if there is an overall list of the winners posted, I do know who did and didn't make it from my group Me and my friend James didn't quite make the cut for Kumite. But my sensei (Andre Lemieux) placed 3rd in mens hard style kata, his sensei (Doug Meagher) placed 3rd in hard style kata 35+ and Meagher-sensei's wife Christina placed 5th in Womens hard style kata. All of them will be headed to the worlds in my old hometown Niagara Falls. Even though I didn't make it to compete I will be there on at least some of the days so if you're going and want to meet up let me know.Chado
ialwaysgethit Posted June 17, 2005 Author Posted June 17, 2005 wicked well done for having a go, and also well done to the people who qualified, do you know where the competition is at all and any good, nights out around it.Also what are the prices of food, drink, beer, etc etc over there oliver willison
Chado Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 Lots of stuff to do in Niagara Falls. The competition is going to be at the Fallsview Casino...food prices? Depends on what you like to eat I guess It's like asking "What do cars cost?" If you like steak there is some expensive steak houses...if you like Japanese food (what I usually eat) then there is lots of that too. It's in the 'tourist' area of town but if you meet up with some people who are locals (such as myself) then we would be happy to direct you 'out of the tourist area'. If anyone wants to meet up for a bit of training while they are down I'm sure we could squeeze some of that in to...my sensei is usually happy to have people come in and do some sparring with new people Chado
ialwaysgethit Posted June 17, 2005 Author Posted June 17, 2005 that would be wicked, I am doing the hard styles kata male bb belt section, andi think my mate jason and lee would liek that 2, as i think we register on the saturday and we compete on the wednesday, and that is a really long wait.a local there would be good the furthest away i have been from home is paris, for 3 days, and i was frightened of getting lost.food wise i do like japaneze, normal food (paster, chips, burgers, pies) also healthy foods, it is just so i can get a rough price on how much money to bring as our hotel does not do breakfast!!!!!!!!!, i was gutted to hear they did not do breakfast.well i have to get the money to get over there first, hopefully see you over there, oli oliver willison
Sam Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 I think there is a thread about the WKA championships recently with a link in it that has a list of the results.... have alook around.
Chado Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 Your money is worth a fair bit here I think.Typical fast food (Hamburger/Fries/Pop) - $3.99-5.99 depending on where you orderTypical Japanese (Teriyaki) - 15$, Oyakodon - $8.25 (tea is free usually)I don't drink so I haven't the slightest clue what beer or such costs...pop is usually under 2$ or free for designated drivers when I go to bars with my friends What motel are you staying at?? All the nice ones have breakfast...you must be at one of those cheapies on Lundy's lane Chado
ialwaysgethit Posted August 17, 2005 Author Posted August 17, 2005 wicked thats coolnot sure were we are staying yet.some one said we may be staying in a casino!!!!!! possible where the competition is, I dont think we find out until about 14 day before, or I could be wrong!!well food sounds a good price then, but I dont think I will be drinking much over there. lol oliver willison
